Just a gentle competition reminder

Yep this is just a gentle nudge to remind people that I am still running my Dark Age story competition, although you don't have very long to get your entries in now. Yep, you've got roughly 24 hours. I know a number of you started writing your stories, but haven't yet submitted them, so this is me just reminding those of you who started to finish them off. I haven't exactly had a flood of entries yet so there is a good chance that if you knock together a good story ending you could be in with a shot of winning yourself something. You can see a list of the prizes here. Any way good luck to those of you who do enter. Peace out!

Just a gentle competition reminder...

Hello everyone, this is exactly what it says it is, it's a gentle reminder that currently I'm running in conjunction with the guys at Cool Mini or Not and Dark Age a story competition. You can read the original article here. We have just little over a month to run this competition as it will close on the 19th of November 2012, I'm not too afraid to admit that although we've had some entries already, we've not had as many as I thought we would... while that might be personally embarrassing for me, it does represent something of an opportunity for you lot. It makes it easier I guess to win, and while winning the nice miniatures and book is reason enough, if any of you are aspiring games writers etc. then it is an opportunity to get some of your writing actually published by a games company. Yep Dark Age will publish the completed story, with the conclusion by the winner on their website. If you aren't interested yourselves perhaps some of your readers might be, so perhaps some of you could pimp the competition out for me, I'd be really grateful. So here are the prizes in full again:

Paint the City Pink (PLEASE READ)

HendyBadger is trying to drum up some support for his endeavours to raise cash for Cancer Research UK and the Breast Cancer Campaign. First things first, there are a number of pretty good reason as to why I'm highlighting this competition:

  1. It's run by HendyBadger over at 'Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher' who is a thoroughly nice fellow and a proper gentlemen.
  2. It's a really, really good cause. I'm sure that absolutely everyone of you who reads this will have known someone affected by some form of cancer. Right now my Grandfather is fighting a difficult battle against cancer. It's horrible illness that destroys lives and families, so anything we can do to help is a good thing.
  3. It's pink! Look at my Blog, although the pink and purple theme was an accident I've stuck with it through all the insults and ridicule!!! So I have to support anyone who is willing to turn their own Blog pink.

So what exactly is going on over at Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher? Well read on and I'll let you know!

Dark Age Story Competition Prizes Turn Up

Yay!!! Competition Swag.

Well it's exactly like the headline suggests. I've got those prizes I told you guys about in my Dark Age Story Competition Article... except I have more than I originally thought I would:

  • Dark Age: Devastation (expansion rulebook)
  • 1x CORE Pathfinders
  • 2x CORE Rends
  • 1x blister of CORE Menials
  • 1x Skarrd Nightmare Juggernaught
  • 1x Skarrd Abomination

Yep you read that right a Skarrd Abomination has been added to the pile of swag that I've got to give away for the story competition. So hopefully that will give you guys further incentive to get your entries in to me here, so far they've been a bit slow, but I'm hoping that's because you're all taking your time to perfect your stories! I hope.

Dark Age story competition

Right I told you all I'd consider doing some more competitions at some point in the future, well the future is now baby! But I'm not doing a prize draw again, in fact I won't be doing prize draws for some time. So for now I'm trying something a bit different. This might backfire horribly on me, and almost certainly will... but what the heck, I'm giving it a go. Below you'll find the start to one of my long winded, and badly written stories. However, I hope one of you can actually help me out, because I haven't finished it yet. What I require from you is to come up with a suitable ending to my yarn. So what are the rules? Because every competition needs rules! Right? They're as follows:

  1. You must write an ending to the story 'Sandstorm' below.
  2. You must then email this ending to me at this email address TheFrontlineGamerBlog@gmail.com, with the following in the email topic 'Dark Age story competition entry'.
  3. Although Dark Age is a no holds barred sort of game I'd ask you to keep it 'clean' people. No unnecessary swearing or auto-erotic asphyxiation!!! I'll accept 15 rated entries, but R rated hardcore porn and gratuitous splatter fests might not be accepted. I will email you ASAP to let you know if I think you've gone too far.
  4. Entries must be no longer than 1500 words. I'd love for it to be longer, but if we have 100 entries... well you do the maths that's a lot of reading and a lot of words.
  5. You do NOT have to be a follower of my Blog to enter this competition. Although it'd be nice if you did follow me. I'm a truly spiffing fellow, and a thoroughly nice chap. Plus I think my Blog's awesome... although I accept I might be a tad biased.
  6. All entries must be submitted by 12:00 noon GMT on the 19th November 2012. I'll then have a chat with Bryan at Cool Mini or Not about when we'll annouce the winners, and then we'll let you guys know. I think this gives you all plenty of time to get a decent story ending together so late submissions will not be accepted. Sorry!

The entries will be judged by myself and Bryan Steele of Cool Mini or Not / Dark Age / Ravage Magazine fame, and 'Multitasker Extraordinaire' and all round top bloke. So what do you get? Well the winning entries will win, unsurprisingly, Dark Age swag. The precise Dark Age swag is:

  • Dark Age: Devastation (expansion rulebook)
  • 1x CORE Pathfinders
  • 2x CORE Rends
  • 1x blister of CORE Menials
  • 1x Skarrd Nightmare Juggernaught

Which sounds pretty cool right? I haven't yet decided how I'm going to divide the swag, it might all go to one outstanding entry, or more likely it'll be split between a number of good entries, with the winner obviously getting the lion's share. Also the completed story with the winning entrants conclusion will be posted on the Dark Age website. Pretty cool right? Well I hope you think it sounds pretty cool, because I think it sounds pretty cool. Any way on to my short story...

Lost in the Warp hits a blogging milestone, which means...

...free stuff of course!!! What else? If you pop on over to his blog here you'll see what it's all about. Basically he has reached 200 articles on his really cool Blog, seriously if you don't believe me it's really cool you should go check out his gallery for starters. There's the usual acceptance speech that involves thank you's to Gods and important people, but I'm guessing most of you just want to know how to get your hands on the swag, and what the swag is, right? Well TKKultist aka James has quite the collection of limited edition figures, like any self respecting geek worth a damn! I just hope for the sake of his sanity it's not quite as extensive as mine is... stupid limited edition miniatures tempting me with their limitedness... but I digress. He's very kindly decided that he'll extend the gift of a limited edition miniature to one lucky chap or chapess in a competition. I now how stupidly attached I am to all my limited edition miniatures, so I have a sense of what a heartbreaking moment this could be, so it is a very big gesture in my book. To be in with a chance of winning you need to do two things:

  1. Follow his Blog (you really ought to any way)
  2. Post a reply in this article here.

So there you have it. It's not difficult, nor is it anywhere near rocket science or odious in its demands. I believe that he will be making the draw on September 20th, which happens to be his birthday... whether this is his actual birthday, or the Blogs birthday I am truly unaware of... I just hope either way there's cake involved. Peace out!

Who won my final Birthday Giveaway?

So I've made it through my mammoth Birthday giveaway in double quick time... and more importantly I seem to have survived! It's obviously taken over the Blog a bit this past month, as has the naval gazing about where to take my Blog next that this anniversary has triggered. However, I think this past week has proved I'm getting back on track with what I'm doing on here, and this past week has had no filler, and I think it's been all killer... and tomorrows Sunday Sermon will hopefully see me back to my thought provoking best... but for now you just want to know who has won the signed Dwarf Kings Hold boxed sets don't you? Well it's...

Time for my last Birthday prize draw!!!

And I think it's a bit of a doozie. First lets have a brief re-cap on what it is that I've already given away in my mammoth birthday giveaway and try through gritted teeth to congratulate those who have won them:

So who won the Dragon Forge Designs prize?

Well before I giveaway the $100's worth of store credit I want to take a moment to thank Jeff Wilhelm at Dragon Forge Designs for donating this awesome prize, to help celebrate my Blogs first birthday. This is the penultimate prize draw in my birthday giveaway bonanza, that means there's currently only one prize left to be sorted out, and that's the signed Dwarf Kings Hold compilation. I'll be posting that competition tomorrow, so keep an eye out for it. For now though the winner of the Dragon Forge Designs store credit is...

700 followers, time for the Blood Maw Vore...

Right, I've been able to get things back to something resembling a kind of normality on this Blog after the last few prize giveaways ave been completed.I mean they all very rapidly merged into one megaprize giveaway!!! and keeping track of it all was far too much like multitasking for my poor in effective make brain. So with the last couple of days only having the Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster giveaway to run I've been able to get on top of some articles and hobby stuff I've been wanting to finish... but more on those over the coming weeks. Firstly I'd like to congratulate Elbrun on winning the signed Freebooter's Fate rulebook, sounds like the poor blighter is having a rough time of it, what with this screwed up economy. So I'm glad the fates have smiled on him a little.

FAO Blackbrunswicker!!!

My good man you posted the 5000th comment on my Blog, on the review for the Ax Faction Victorian Darling Kraken Hunter, and for that you've won yourself yourself... fittingly... an Ax Faction Victorian Darling Kraken Hunter. You see, I also value my commentators and regular old school followers too. I accept that my current prize giveaway follower drive might mean that I'm not rewarding those of you who have stuck by this Blog and have supported me for a long time. I'm hoping this sort of giveaway might rectify all of that, and this is certainly the sort of thing I'll be looking to do in the future. To say thanks to those of you who have been active members of the community we have here. So any way, Mr Blackbrunswicker if you could email me at:

TheFrontlineGamerBlog@gmail.com

I'll see about getting you your miniature too you ASAP. Peace out!

625 followers, time to give away some Sedition Wars...

Firstly yes I am aware that I hit 625 followers at some point during last Friday evening / Saturday morning, and yes I'm aware that should have triggered the Studio McVey Sedition Wars giveaway. However, I was busy trying to sort two of my previous prize draws out, and adding another competition to the mix over the weekend just didn't seem wise. So then I seem to already be on to my fifth birthday prize draw, that means I'm now past half way mark on my mammoth giveaway bonanza. Lets take a little bit of time to congratulate those who have already won:

Time to pick another winner...

Mmmmm... burnt MDF soooooo good!!!

It's about time to pick the winner for the 40 voucher for Sarissa Precision scenery or stuff!!! Because they do 'stuff' as well, and stuff can be good. This is a prize that quite frankly I'd quite like to keep for myself, as I've found I can never have too much burnt MDF around... wait... no... I mean scenery, I don't just like this stuff for the smell of burnt wood, honest... me man, me like smell of fire! So who is the lucky blighter who gets this prize then? Well it's none other than Vent:

Banzai!!! And the winner of the Bushido stuff is...

...Drum roll please!!! Bishop.

I don't think he has a Blog of his own, so I'm not going to pimp it for him... because he's got nothing for me to pimp! Any way, what I do know about him is that he loves Squirtel from Pokmon, big medallion based neck garments and Parker coats. I can also tell you he's an Australian, from New South Wales. New South Wales also, so I'm reliably informed looks bugger all like actual South Wales:

575(+) followers, time for another giveaway

You can win a copy of this... except yours will be signed!!!

Hopefully you guys will understand my reticence at releasing this prize earlier, because hell that would have meant keeping on top of 4 competitions at one time, and I was starting to run out of carrier bags! So even though I got to the prerequisite 575 followers a few days ago now I held off before posting this up, even though my Blog now sits at 593 followers. Any way after finally giving away the Heavy Gear Blitz PDF's earlier on this week I've freed up one of my carrier bags so I can now run the prize draw for the Werner Klocke signed copy of Freebooter's Fate. Those of you who have been keeping a watching brief of my Blog will know I'm a bit of a fan of this game, not just the splendid miniatures, but also it's pretty damn fine rules. Here are a list of my Freebooter's Fate reviews:

And the winner of the Heavy Gear PDF's is...

Me!!!! Nah, I'm only kidding, I didn't enter... mainly because I don't win competitions... because I never enter. It's a vicious cycle! The actual winner of the Heavy Gear Blitz PDF's, who was pulled out of the Sainsbury's carrier bag of win is none other than Heid, Avatar picture thingy below, just in case there is more than one of you:

I checked out Heid's profile to see if they had a Blog or anything. Turns out Heid started writing a Blog on December the 13th, 2011. It wasn't quite a Friday the 13th, although it might well have been. He hasn't written anything else on it since. So I'm now using this opportunity to try and publicly shame him into writing more stuff... hey how about you start with a review of your awesome Heavy Gear Blitz PDF's? Also did I mention that I'm his only follower? I think we should all follow his Blog and put loads of peer pressure on them until they cave, and start writing again. Any way if you could email me Heid at:

TheFrontlineGmaerBlog@gmail.com

I'll sort of getting you your prize. Oh yes and congratulations, that's a lot of PDF goodness you now own. Peace out!

PS. There are still two more competitions running on this Blog. The Bushido faction giveaway and the 40 gift voucher for Sarissa Precision, if you haven't already done so follow the links and enter yourself into the competition.

550 followers, what already? Time for the third prize draw...

Some of my own Personal collection.

OK right, I've definitely dropped the ball on this one. I figured rather stupidly that it'd take a couple of weeks, maybe months to get anywhere near 550 followers. It's taken precisely 6 days and I'm already half way to 575 followers, which will trigger another prize draw. I think I sold myself short... bugger! Any way a deal is a deal, so I guess it time to cough the third prize draw up now isn't it? All these prize draws are playing bloody havoc with my scheduling though! Any way the third prize was donated by those lovely chaps at Sarissa Precision, and is 40's worth of store credit for you to spend on whatever scenery etc. you want from these MDF laser cutting wizards. Here are a list of reviews of their product on this here Blog:

525 followers, time for another prize...

Right, I thought this had a possibility of happening and guess what, it has. So even before I've finished off with the bloody Heavy Gear Blitz giveaway I'm having to start the Bushido giveaway. I'm starting to get the feeling that perhaps my follower targets weren't quite as impressive as I first thought they were. Crumbs! Well a promise is a promise and I did say I'd give some Bushido stuff away when I reached 525 followers. So what am I giving away? Well I'm giving away the Prefecture of Ryu Starter Set, you can read my review of them here and I'm also giving away a Wave 6 release that's yet to hit the shops, Tenshi, the Seshin Na Goei.So what do you have to do to get your hands on this swag? Well here are the rules:

500 Followers, time for a Prize draw!

Right, at some point during last night I managed to cruise up to and past the 500 followers mark, and that triggers my Heavy Gear Blitz PDF rulebook giveaway. It's happened a little bit quicker than I thought it would, and I'm currently only 19 Followers away from the next prize. The rules are dead simple:
